Steelcase Gesture Ergonomic Office Chair (Night Blue, With Headrest)

What makes the armrests on this chair different from standard office chairs?

The Gesture features 360-degree armrests that move in any direction - up, down, forward, backward and pivot left or right. This allows them to support your arms naturally whether you're typing, using a tablet, or making phone calls. Standard office chairs typically only offer height and width adjustment, which doesn't accommodate modern device usage patterns.

How does the adjustable seat depth work and why is it important?

The seat can extend forward by several centimetres to accommodate longer legs or retract for shorter users. Proper seat depth ensures your thighs are fully supported without pressure behind your knees. This prevents circulation problems and maintains proper posture. Many office chairs have fixed seat depths that don't suit all body types.

What is the Core Equaliser mechanism and how does it benefit users?

The Core Equaliser connects the seat and backrest so they move together as one responsive system. When you recline, both components adjust simultaneously to maintain consistent lumbar support. This eliminates the gap that typically forms between your back and the chair during recline, providing continuous support in any position.

Is assembly difficult and what tools are required?

The chair arrives partially assembled and typically takes 30-45 minutes to complete. You'll need to attach the backrest, seat, armrests and casters using basic tools. All necessary hardware and detailed instructions are included. The process is straightforward and doesn't require professional assembly.

What type of casters should I choose for my flooring?

Hard floor casters are designed for parquet, tile, laminate and similar surfaces. They typically have softer wheels that won't scratch or damage hard floors. Carpet casters have harder wheels that roll easily over soft flooring. Choose based on your primary workspace flooring type for optimal performance.

How durable is the Fame fabric and what makes it special?

The Fame fabric combines 95% wool with 5% polyamide for exceptional durability, achieving 120,000 Martindale cycles abrasion resistance. It's OEKO-TEX certified, meaning it's free from harmful chemicals and EU Ecolabel certified for environmental sustainability. The wool content provides natural temperature regulation and comfort.

What does the 12-year warranty cover?

Steelcase provides a comprehensive 12-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This includes the mechanism, frame, armrests and other structural components. The warranty demonstrates Steelcase's confidence in their build quality and provides long-term peace of mind for your investment.

Is this chair suitable for gaming as well as office work?

The 360-degree armrests accommodate game controllers, the adjustable seat depth suits long gaming sessions and the four-position recline allows comfortable positioning. The chair's design specifically considers modern technology interaction patterns.
